We don't mean to brag, but no other country does winter quite like Canada. Whether you like to ski, skate or dogsled, we have it all. And we have the winter festivals to prove it. There is plenty of family fun at the 58th annual Québec Winter Carnival (Jan. 27 to Feb. 12, 2012) in Québec City including snow rafting, the famous ice palace and two magical night parades. See more here. In Winnipeg's French Quarter, the Festival du Voyageur (Feb. 17-26, 2012) celebrates the joie de vivre of the fur traders who established the Red River Colony. A team of sculptors turns Whittier Park into a wonderland of ice carvings. In the nation's capital, Winterlude (Feb. 3-20, 2012) is one cool party. Skate on the Rideau Canal ' it runs 7.8-km (4.5 miles) through the heart of downtown Ottawa. And the Montréal en Lumiere festival (Feb. 16-26, 2012) combines performing arts, gastronomy and free outdoor family activities. Not to be missed by foodies.

Québec City has its ice hotel, now Montréal has a whole snow village. Open from January to March, there's a 30-room ice hotel, heated outdoor spas, a 60-seat restaurant, an ice bar with a terrace, plus lots of events and activities for the whole family. Kinda cool, eh.
